About this product
Westland Houseplant Potting Mix is a peat free specialist mix that promotes healthy root growth and reduces plant stress, perfect for keeping houseplants happy. Houseplants love being in a mix that lets water run past their roots instead of sitting in a waterlogged pot. This dry, free-draining mix prevents overwatering and deters flies for healthier, happier houseplants.
It is enriched with our unique Seramis® granules. These granules absorb water and nutrients and then release them to the plant as and when they need it. This ensures your plant keeps hydrated and nourished. The added zinc complex promotes more root growth into your new potting mix, faster re-potting establishment, and also boots your plants’ resilience. This Houseplant Potting Mix is also enriched with perlite to create the perfect balance of airflow and drainage for healthy root development.

How to pot and re-pot?
Repot any time of the year; spring is an ideal time during the growing season.
1. The first step is finding a pot, choose one that is slightly larger with good drainage holes.
2. Place a layer of potting mix in the base of your new pot. For best results, add a layer of Westland Hydroleca before the potting mix. Hydroleca is great at absorbing excess water, keeping plant roots dry.
3. Remove the plant from its current pot. Turn the plant sideways and gently hold by the stems or leaves. Tap the bottom of the pot until the plant slides out.
4. Place the plant into its new pot, ensuring the root ball is slightly below the rim of the new pot. Fill the pot with potting mix and water well. You can top with a layer of Hydroleca for a beautiful finish.
How do i keep my houseplants looking great?
Don’t let them go hungry
- Packed full of all the essential nutrients your houseplants need to thrive, feeding with houseplant feed is the secret to lush, healthy houseplants!
- Feed every second watering in the active growing season (spring/summer) and every fourth watering in the winter
Tips for Better Results
- Place plants in bright positions but avoid direct sunlight if possible
- Avoid large fluctuations in room temperatures as this may cause leaf drop
- Treat houseplants to a leaf shine to remove dust
General Advice
- Don’t use me with ericaceous plants
- Before use, rework potting mix between hands to reconstitute
- Use in a well ventilated place and avoid breathing in dust
- Wearing gloves is a good idea, and don’t forget to wash your hands afterwards!
- Store in a dry, frost free place away from weed killers and other garden chemicals
- Reseal bag after use

Q. Can I use this for outdoor plants?
A. Yes this can be used for plants outdoors, but we would recommend using a multi purpose compost as it has been designed for predominantly outdoor use.
Q. Will this be attractive for my pets?
A. This will not be attractive to most pets as it does not contain any organic fertiliser elements
