About this product

Zamioculcas zamiifolia

17cm Pot – Minimum 8 Branches

Plant Highlights: Glossy evergreen foliage • Upright architectural habit • Low-maintenance watering needs • Suitable for a range of indoor spaces

Overview

Zamioculcas zamiifolia, often known as the ZZ plant, is a popular indoor plant valued for its glossy green leaves, strong upright growth and ability to cope with periods of dryness. Its thick stems and naturally neat shape create a structured foliage display that works well in modern homes, offices and smaller indoor spaces.

The plant’s sturdy appearance and slow, steady growth make it a useful choice for customers looking for a long-lasting foliage plant with a tidy habit. Supplied with a minimum of eight branches in a 17cm pot, it provides a fuller display while remaining easy to position on a shelf, side table or plant stand.

Why We Love It

  • Glossy evergreen foliage provides year-round interest
  • Upright habit suits shelves, desks and floor displays
  • Stores water in its thick stems and underground structures
  • Tolerates some lower-light indoor conditions, though growth is stronger with better light

Growing Guide

Light

Place in bright, indirect light for the strongest growth, although Zamioculcas zamiifolia can tolerate lower light levels better than many indoor foliage plants. Avoid strong direct sunlight through glass, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering

Allow the compost to dry between waterings. The plant stores moisture in its thick stems and underground structures, so it is more tolerant of occasional missed watering than of consistently wet compost. Always allow excess water to drain away.

Compost and Feeding

Use a free-draining indoor plant compost and a container with drainage holes. Feed occasionally during the active growing season according to the fertiliser instructions.

Routine Care

Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and help maintain their glossy appearance. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. Repot only when the plant becomes crowded or root growth fills the container.

Indoor Placement

Zamioculcas zamiifolia suits a bright living room, bedroom or home office where its upright form can be displayed clearly. It can tolerate less light than many houseplants, but very dark positions will slow growth. Keep it away from cold draughts and strong heat sources.

Good to Know

The ZZ plant is naturally slow growing, so it is valued more for its dependable foliage and structured appearance than rapid changes in size. Consistent care and avoiding overwatering are the keys to keeping it healthy.
