Digitalis ‘Panther’

3 Litre Pot

Plant Highlights: Soft apricot flowers with spotted throats • Strong, upright flower spikes • Long-lasting summer display • Excellent for cottage-style planting and pollinator-friendly gardens

Overview

Digitalis ‘Panther’ is a distinctive foxglove producing elegant spires of soft apricot flowers, each beautifully marked with darker speckled throats. Flowering from early to mid-summer, it brings height, colour and a naturalistic feel to mixed borders, cottage gardens and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

Unlike many traditional foxgloves, ‘Panther’ has been bred to provide a reliable garden performance with sturdy flower stems and a long flowering period. Its upright habit makes it an excellent companion for roses, hardy geraniums, salvias and other summer-flowering perennials, while the blooms are highly attractive to bees.

Growing Guide

Position

Grow in full sun or partial shade. In warmer or more exposed gardens, light afternoon shade can help prolong flowering.

Soil

Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid sites that remain waterlogged during winter.

Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, keep the soil evenly moist during prolonged dry periods, particularly while the plant is in flower.

Pruning

Remove spent flower spikes once flowering has finished to keep the plant tidy. Healthy basal foliage should be left in place to support future growth.
