Overview
Japanese wineberry is an eye-catching relative of the raspberry, with arching canes covered in red bristles and berry clusters wrapped in sticky, wine-coloured calyces. The bright red-orange fruits are tangy-sweet and very decorative, making this as ornamental as it is edible.

How to Plant
Plant in Moist but well-drained, fertile soil. in a position with Full sun or light shade.. Dig a generous planting hole, mix in organic matter, and water thoroughly after planting. Apply a mulch around the base to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
Care Tips
- Train canes on wires or a support frame, similar to raspberries.
- After fruiting, cut out the canes that have borne fruit to ground level.
- Mulch annually and water well in dry weather to support heavy cropping.

Canes reach around 2–3m long within 2–3 seasons, forming an attractive arching framework.
Harvest
Fruits ripen from mid- to late summer. Harvest when the berries are fully coloured and detach easily.
