Anthurium clarinervium

12cm Pot

Plant Highlights: Striking heart-shaped foliage • Silver leaf veining • Tropical indoor character • Humidity-loving houseplant

Overview

Anthurium clarinervium is a sought-after foliage houseplant grown for its distinctive heart-shaped leaves, deep green surface and contrasting pale silver veins. Unlike flowering Anthuriums that are valued for colourful spathes, this species is prized for the detailed texture and pattern of its leaves, making it a feature plant for indoor collections.

Its compact growth habit makes it suitable for display on shelves, plant stands or tables where the foliage can be appreciated up close. With the right balance of warmth, humidity, bright indirect light and careful watering, it can maintain its decorative foliage throughout the year.

Why We Love It

  • Highly decorative silver-veined leaves
  • Compact habit suits indoor plant displays
  • Adds texture and contrast to houseplant collections
  • Prefers humid conditions similar to its tropical origins
  • A distinctive foliage plant for bright indoor spaces

Growing Guide

Light

Place in bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and maintain the strong leaf patterning. Avoid harsh direct sunlight through glass, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Water when the upper part of the compost begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain away. Anthurium clarinervium prefers consistent moisture but is sensitive to constantly wet roots, so good drainage is essential.

Compost and Feeding

Use a loose, free-draining indoor compost that allows air around the roots while retaining some moisture. Feed lightly during active growth with a suitable houseplant fertiliser, following the product instructions.

Routine Care

Maintain good humidity by grouping plants together or placing the plant in a naturally humid room. Keep away from cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and direct heat sources such as radiators.

Indoor Placement

A bright living room, bathroom with natural light, or home office can suit Anthurium clarinervium. A bathroom position is only suitable where there is enough daylight, as humidity cannot compensate for insufficient light.

Good to Know

This Anthurium is grown primarily for its foliage rather than flowers. The detailed leaf markings are the main attraction, and stable conditions usually produce the best appearance.
