Overview
‘Amoroso’ is a modern selection of autumn olive bred for heavy crops of sweet-tart red berries rich in vitamins, antioxidants and lycopene. In spring it carries masses of creamy-white, highly fragrant flowers that attract bees, followed by clusters of glossy fruit in late summer. The silvery foliage and naturally arching habit make it as ornamental as it is productive.

How to Plant
Plant in Most soils, including poor or sandy ground, as long as drainage is reasonable. in a position with Full sun for best flowering and fruiting.. Dig a generous planting hole, mix in organic matter, and water thoroughly after planting. Apply a mulch around the base to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
Care Tips
- Water regularly in the first year; once established it is very drought tolerant.
- Prune lightly after fruiting, removing a few of the oldest branches to keep the shrub open.
- Mulch annually with compost to support cropping, though it will still perform on lean soil.

In Irish conditions ‘Amoroso’ typically reaches around 2.5–3m tall and 2–2.5m wide within about 5 years.
Harvest
Berries ripen from late August into September. Pick when fully coloured and slightly soft; they can be eaten fresh, dried, or used in jams, jellies and juices.
