Calatheas are tropical plants celebrated for their beautifully patterned foliage, featuring various shades of green, white, pink, and purple. The leaves often have distinct markings, such as stripes, spots, or flame-like patterns, making them highly decorative. Additionally, Calatheas are known for their nyctinastic movements, where leaves move up at night and lower during the day, earning them the nickname “prayer plants.”

Supplied in a 14cm pot, plants stand approx. 30cm tall. Calathea rosea-picta 'Princess Jessie' is a very unique plant. Its circular leafs are almost jet black, with pink streaks running through it.

• Best placement: A warm spot away from drafts and direct sunlight
• Care requirements: Soil needs to be kept moist. Doesn't cope well with low temperatures or drafts

Calathea have a reputation of being difficult to keep, but once they are kept warm, and not allowed to dry out they will be happy. They do appreciate humidity, a warm bathroom is an ideal spot
