Overview
Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' is a compact spider plant with broad, gently arching leaves. Its fresh green foliage is neatly edged in creamy white, creating a dense, bright clump that works well in both modern and traditional interiors.
Compared with many traditional spider plants, 'Ocean' has relatively short, broad leaves and a rounded habit. Mature plants may produce slender arching stems carrying small white flowers followed by young plantlets. These stems can be left to trail naturally from a hanging pot, shelf or raised plant stand.

Indoor Placement
Place in bright, indirect light for healthy growth and clearly defined variegation. It can tolerate a slightly shadier position, although growth may slow and the leaf markings may become less distinct.
A bright bathroom or kitchen can provide suitable conditions where there is adequate natural light. In living rooms or bedrooms, keep the plant away from harsh direct sun, radiators, fireplaces and cold draughts.
Growing Guide
Water when the upper layer of compost begins to feel dry. Soak the root ball thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain before returning the plant to its decorative pot. Do not leave the nursery pot standing in water.
Check the compost before watering during winter, when lower light levels slow growth. Brown leaf tips can result from dry air, inconsistent watering or mineral build-up in the compost. Rainwater or filtered water may help where practical.
Feed lightly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Seasonal Care
Remove damaged leaves at the base with clean scissors. Flowering stems can be trimmed away after they fade, or left in place so the developing plantlets form a trailing display.
Repot when the roots have filled the container or the compost begins drying much more quickly than usual.
