Fabulous pale yellow cosmos with striking central white eye. Our plant breeding team took a very bright yellow, but late-flowering Japanese cosmos variety and crossed it with earlier-flowering cosmos with better, shorter habits. The resulting delicate, subtle yellow blossoms of Cosmos ‘Lemonade’ are produced en masse throughout the summer on short, branching cosmos plants.
Sow seed on the surface of a good, freedraining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at a temperature of 20-25˚C (68-77˚F) until after germination which usually takes 7-14 days.
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30-45cm (12-18in) apart.
