Mesembryanthemum Magic Carpet Mixed

Carpet like growth with leaves that appear to be sprinkled with ice crystals. Produces a glowing display in full sun on beds, borders, dry banks, rockeries, etc.

Sow late winter to spring at 15-20C (60-70F) in John Innes Seed Compost. Sow seed on surface of compost and gently firm down compost. Keep soil damp but not wet, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is also helpful. Germination usually takes 15-21 days.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions for 1-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 3cm (12in) apart in a sunny spot on light well drained soil.
