Crocosmia are a clump-forming, cormous perennial with strappy, sword-like leaves and known for their vibrant, showy, funnel -shaped flowers that bloom on arching stems from mid-summer to early autumn in shades of red, orange and yellow. It is a hardy plant from the iris family that grows from South African grasslands and is popular for its vibrant late-season colour, making it excellent for cutting and attracting pollinators. The name 'Crocosmia' comes from the Greek words for saffron and smell, because the dried leaves can have a saffron-like scent.
